To be or not to be? That's the question!
My question: Was it a dream or reality?
Alas! I was at the party, and now, I'm home typing this to you my dear pal. I have been waiting for this day - 10th June. I shall tell you what's this party is all about.
This is the Montfort 4E1 '07 reunion party. You must be wondering: why am I attending the party since I am not from Montfort.
Alright... I was invited by Shaun, a friend I knew during my primary school years, whom is the chief organiser of the party. Joseph whom is also part of 4E1 is a friend I knew then, too. I am sure this is gonna be a very great party! That's why I have agreed to go for it without any hesitation. And, I thought, this may be a great opportunity to get to meet and know more people.
Now, I'll begin that day journey...
I went to Shaun's house to meet him first. One of his ex-classmate Leonard met him at his house as well. Before we depart from his house, I gave Leonard a sneak preview of my performance. After that we took bus 88 to Pasir Ris.
When we arrived at our destination, Shaun and Leonard decided to deviate from our mission to get a cake at White Sands shopping mall, and instead they went to the arcade to play House of the dead 4. In my mind, I was like "argh gamers". But then I tagged along as i was cool. The timing was just great, the both of them lost the game just when Joseph called and told us he had reached.
It was not quite expected as we thought it would be the earliest. Joseph surpassed us unfortunately. I suggested taking a bus, but Shaun and Leonard wanted to walk as it was not far. When we reached Downtown east, we called Joseph and asked him where he was. We went to meet him at the entrance of the chalet. He brought two large packets of pasta, but I heard it was not finished afterwards. By the way, Shaun and I were carrying the gifts and some equipments for the barbecue. I was out shopping with him for those items the day before. Alright, so Shaun got the keys and we went to our room. It was at block J if I can remember correctly. We could not find the place at first, but I searched and found it eventually.
After seeing how the place was like inside, it was somewhat disappointing as it was kind of small, in fact too small. Haha! We took a break, chilled around and watched some tv. We were all thirsty, so Shaun and Leonard offered to buy us a drink at cheers. While Joseph and I were in the chalet, he got some calls from his classmates asking where the place was. Shaun and Leonard came back and we just carried on slacking. After awhile, Shaun got a call informing him the food has arrived. Shaun, Joseph and I had to go and take the food. Leonard was like an emperor, you will know why as I carry on in the next paragraph.
Three of us went to the loading bay which is the right place for us to collect the food. However, things got messed up due to some error in communication. As we did not see the van, we though we were at the wrong place. Thus, we walked to another carpark but still did not see it. Then again, we thought it might be at the main road and headed towards there, but still no sign of it whatsoever. Shaun called the man again and deicided to let Joseph handle it as he is a better speaker. Next, we rushed along the main road and saw the van approaching towards us. We ran towards it and beckoned to the person. He halted at the side of the road and handed us the food. There were a few huge plastic bags with the chicken wings, otah, squid and some others and two trays of bee hoon. Honestly, I gotta say this, the trays are indeed made of the worst material ever. It was extremely soft and fragile. We could bid farewell to the bee hoon if we did not carry it with the slightest care. Joseph was the one who carried all the food in the plastic bags, in fact paper bags rather by himself. Shaun and I carried the bee hoon. Joseph was lugging the food and he was using lots of physical strength literally. Shuan and I too utterly had difficulty taking care of the bee hoon. It was so hard to balance it and our arms were aching. The worst of the worst is the cover was not stuck to the plastic tray, and it kept dropping as we were walking back.
And guess what? When we reached the original place where we suppose to collect the food, the van came towards us and the man told us he was here at first. The bottom of the tray was hot, so the man told us to hold it with a paper bag below. The cover of the tray dropped about four times and two people helped me with it as they passed by. Lol! Three of us had to put the things down at some time because of the stupid cover which dropped and rest our arms for a little while. The next stupid thing was we went to the wrong block. We were all trying to rush back and did not take notice of the location. When we finally returned, we were tired, sweaty and thirsty. Oh by the way, Joseph could finally get his can of coke he was yearning for. Leonard was relaxing indoors while all the above took place. Lol? Nobody really ate the bee hoon and in the evening I heard that it was in fact eaten by a stray cat. It's so funny that we don't need to say anything right?
Back indoors, I played my Transformers disc 2 as we were very bored. As we carried on chilling, the other 4E1 dudes started to arrive. I shall only name those whom I did mingle with. They were Murphy, Darren, Jeremy and Sze Chuan. They brought along the other items required for the barbecue. When they were here, we started the barbecue. I did not really catch what was taking place during the barbecue as I was indoors. They prepared the charcoal, lighted the fire, and cooked the food. The fire kept going off a few times and they had to re-light it over again. I was hearing that the charcoal was not too up to standard as well. I was outside watching them barbecueing for awhile, then I decided to go in. I asked Joseph if I could watch one of his dvds and I chose Terminator 2 Judgement day as I loved that movie. I was by myself in the chalet and I asked Joseph to bring me some food when they are ready. The chicken wings were fabulous, however not too cooked when I ate them. The satays were great too, really enjoyed them. As the barbecue went on, I stayed inside watching Terminator 2. This was why I missed out lots of food. Lol! Those dudes must have over-consumed them, hence leaving almost nothing for the second day. I bet they had lots of fun dealing with the barbecue.
It is magic time! During that day, I was waiting for the perfect opportunity to perform the impossible to these fellas from Montfort. I had to wait for them to come back in as they were out doing the barbecue. If I remembered correctly, the first effect I did was a card effect called miracle to Sze Chuan. It is one of my favourite card tricks. From there, I started to build up the suspense around everyone. Shaun's friend, Heman came around this time, a friend he knew when he was in CJC. That explains why Shuan was laughing about his name. He is indeed a very nice bloke and I enjoyed chatting with him during the party. I showed him some tricks too, the biddle trick and crazy man's handcuffs. Oh by the way to you readers, those are just the names of individual magic tricks. Joseph invited a friend of his to the party too. Outside, Joseph was doing an experiment with those fire starters. He likes to explore all kinds of things. Shaun asked me for my camera to record the thing. Joseph started the fire and there was a huge and exquisite explosion. It was indeed something very cool and satisfying. After awhile in the night, it was going to rain soon and the wind was howling. Our stuffs went flying around and the fire was blown out. We quickly disposed the rubbish and kept the food and all our things. The rain went pouring later in the night.
Around this time, a few more people reached the chalet, Chadwick, Carl and Benedict. They are a bunch of very cool people. It was a pleasure meeting them and I had a great time mingling with them. Most of the 4E1 dudes went out for a game of pool and second round of barbecue despite the heavy rain. I did not join them as I did not want to get wet. I just stayed inside with those dudes who were around with me. If I am not wrong, Leonard played Xbox, a very weird racing game. Heman tried it out as well. They thought of watching Transformers as they were quite bored, so we played the dvd. Leonard purposely changed the audio language to thai. Lol! But it was switched back to english later. Heman left around this time as he needed to go home.
When the rest returned from their game of pool and barbecue, they were soaking wet. When they settled down, I decided to show them what I got. I could tell that Chadwick is someone who will be interested in such entertainment, hence I showed him and Carl some of my best card tricks and they were utterly floored. Chadwick even commented that it was the first time in his life he had seen such a thing. Haha! It was a success for me. After that, as some were watching Transformers, I played Tai Di and Cheat with Jeremy, Murphy and Darren. We had mashmallows and some chocolates at the same time. Then, they were my next audiences. I performed a few different card tricks to them and they were equally floored. I was honoured to be able to entertain these guys. I even scared the hell out of Jeremy with my butterfly trick. Afterwards, he also used my butterfly to scare some of them. After Transformers finished, I went to cheers with Chadwick, Darren, Carl and Benedict and chatted with them along the way. I got two cans of coffee and a sweet there. Afterwards, we roamed around the whole area. Well, they are a funny bunch of people.
When I returned, I played poker with them again. Shaun was watching Terminator 3. There were lots of laughter while playing with them. Then I went out to relax and joined Chadwick, Carl and Benedict whom were out there as well. Carl is a guitarist and he could play the guitar well. So I sat down and chatted with them. At that moment, someone from the next door kept peeping at us. I don't think they could hear us from the inside as the sound of the guitar was not very loud, so they just carried on. Shaun came out and told me the next door people complained about us and the security guard came to our door and told us to keep quiet. Shaun was pissed off with this and was saying those people were being unreasonable. He asked me if I wanted to take a walk and I went along with him. We strolled and chatted at the same time. We sat down at a particular shelter around the place then carried on walking again. Then again, we came back to the same shelter and sat down. Carl and Benedict happened to see us and joined us there. We chilled and chatted among ourselves. I performed to Carl a money effect and he liked it as usual. It was already about five plus at that time. We waited till dawn.
When it was daybreak, we went back to the chalet. Other than the few of us, the rest were still asleep. We though no one will sleep but they all ended up sleeping. I sat outside for awhile, then followed Shuan and Jia Hao to have a cup of soya bean milk. It was great to have a hot drink early in the morning. By the way, this is the first night of the year which I stayed awake throughout. We got back and Shaun and I went to wash the equipment. Oh and we were having a tedious time washing the wire meshes together the previous night. Next, we went to the water dispenser to fill the drink container with water as he wanted to prepare the lime syrup drink. Afterwards, we went to burger king as I wanted to have my breakfast. Sze Chuan, Chadwick and Carl came to burger king too. After we finished, we went back again. We just rested and did nothing. Carl told Chadwick about the money effect I showed him and he wanted to see it eagerly. However, I performed a different money trick called the wonder bill. Perhaps they found out themselves later. Haha! Both of them left in awhile early in the morning.
I was also about to leave soon. I just stayed around the chalet until about twelve. Daniel came around in the morning and went with Shuan to buy more food needed for the day. The others were watching Terminator 3. I was waiting for Shaun to come back. After Terminator 3 finished, Joseph played the lord of the rings the return of the king. When Shaun returned, he suggested we go to White Sands Cafe Galilee to drink a cup of coffee with my coupons. I packed up and we left. The others were going for lunch and some followed Shaun and I to White Sands as they wanted to go to the arcade. We went to the library, got our coffee and chatted there. We were giving our comments on how the party had gone so far. After that, Shaun went to the arcade to find the others. From there, I bid farewell to Shaun. I went to have my lunch and took the mrt home. I was dead tired.

Those who came on the second day did not get to see my magic. Haha! Anyway, this is seriously the best party I have ever attended in my life. Though, I am not part of 4E1, I had lots of fun and did not regret going for the party. Once again, I thank Shaun for inviting me. Besides his friends are really nice and friendly and it is indeed worth getting to know them. To conclude, it was a fantastic party.
